New Audi A4 "Progress Is Beautiful" TV Commercial
The all new Audi A4 "Progress Is Beautiful" commercial.
The all new Audi A4 ad debuted in front of millions of viewers for the first time during the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. This spectacular commercial was created by the Venables, Bell & Partners Ad Agency.
I have been attempting to get more details on the music used in the Audi commercial, this is a quote from an email response a friend received after contacting Audi about the "Progress Is Beautiful" commercial campaign.
"We appreciate your taking the time to share your comments with us about
the Progress is Beautiful video and are very pleased that you enjoyed
the music so much. As a general rule, our commercial videos have
specially-created music from a music house for each commercial; this
music is not available to the public."

If anyone has any information on the song title, artist or composer please do share it with us.

I agree with your blog and comment. Thank you for it. It's sad that today we must dig so because a rare piece of music pops up. It's not 10 or 15 years ago, that is for sure. But CLEARLY, this ad is beautiful, and the music is stunning. I'm dying to know who it is. If you like this, I bet you'd dig the band Lush's song, "Sweetness and Light." I recommend it. From early 90's. Gorgeous. Thanks again.
I thought you would like to know I have received information regarding the music in the ad. I emailed the ad agency that made the commercial. They told me that the song is an original composition entitled "Notes on Progress" created exclusively for the commercial. But because of the overwhelmingly positive response to the ad, the track will be made downloadable from the site www.truthinengineering.com within a few days. I know so many people are trying to track down the music, so I'm spreading the word on any site that shows up on my google search! LOL! Hope this helps!
Ragingfish, thank you so much for sharing that info on the song for us.
We will have to check out your site for the music....well done!! :)
Amazing Job Ragingfish! I'm going to take a look. I saw the ad again last night, and that is one serious piece of work. That transformation during the whole commercial, and then the Mercedes turning into the Audi is sweet. I bet that will win awards!
Thanks again Ragingfish
I had also emailed Audi and eventually I received this email:
Thank you for your interest in the music in the A4 TV commercial--and
your patience in awaiting more news. The music is an original score,
specifically composed for the purpose of the commercial by Nate Morgan
of Eliasarts. It is entitled "Notes on Progress". The music is
available at
http://www.truthinengineering.com/truth/truth-in-progress.html .
There is a download link just at the end of the video.
They also said that the song was made to only be as long as the commercial so there is really no more to it. (which is sad) Hope this helps!
Thanks for sharing the composer; Nate Morgan of Eliaarts. Wonderful piece!!
Thanks to those who already researched this information. Now, there is another commercial that has me - just - captivated!
The newest of A4 ad campaigns, features a black A4 leading the likes of MB, BMW, and Lexus, any word on the artist for this 30 second commercial spot??
Please help
I recently added an 08 S6 to my own Audi lineup (05 A4 and 06 TT) but these commercials are placing another itch to buy yet one more!!
Chad
Chad, it is most likely the same composer, as the music is included in the .ZIP file you can download from the Audi link above. The music is entitled "Separation."
Thank you for the great find and kudos to Audi for a great comertial and putting that music up for download.
I would like to hear the whole composition if anyone comes across any links beyond their little clips.
Also look into Devotchka...The did the music on Everything is Illuminated and Little Miss Sunshine...beautiful!
My brain immediately went to Sigur Ros -- if you like this music, you'll probably love them.
Albert
@Albert:
Definitely. It's PURE Sigur Ros. Check out their album "Taak."
This commercial = track 2 + a little bit of drums from track 3. The vocals in the commercial are even vague and Icelandic-sounding.
According to Mix Magazine, "Separation" was written by Jonathan Elias and Kenny Segal (also of Elias Arts).

No, I don't know where you all are seeing these similarities, but it's closer to J Ralph's "One Million Miles Away" than all of the above, and even that's a vague similarity in that both use string instruments and soaring female vocals over. However, the vocal in this Audi Separation commercial is much more pure and full of wonder (which, I expect, was the point for an Audi ad), whereas the other is kind of sad.
The "Separation" music is beautiful, but *very* reminiscent of This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins.. I suspect many of these ad composers drink heavily from the 4AD fountain of ethereal melancholy ^.^
The "Living Room" track - carbon copy of 90% of the Ágætis Byrjun album by Sigur Rós (1999). Lovely, but hardly original, especially considering the distinct sound.
But hey, the music got me googling around, so it can't be all bad ;D Thanks for the info!
The band is called "Azuyx" however "they" pulled all available downloads and information about the band. There may be a few UK sites that may have the cd.
YOU ARE ALL WRONG....THE COMPOSER IS NAMED RENEE JACOBS...WRITTEN IN 2003 AND RECORDED IN A STUDIO...NATE MORGAN IS THE POSER AND STOLLED THIS MELODY DOWN TO THE NOTE. I AM WORKING ON A LAW SUIT AS WE SPEEK. THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW WHERE TO FIND HIM...IT WAS CALLED " RAIN " ALL PLAYED ON A BABY GRAND. PLADGERY, PLADGERY, PLADGERY......SHAME ON CALLING YOURSELF A COMPOSER, THIS WAS NOT YOUR CONNECTION IN THE POCKET...IT WAS MINE, RENEE
Yikes, I think the above clown would be a bit more credible if he or she could spell.
I was thinking the same thing Bill.
I hope he or she comes back to share the judgment of the lawsuit....lol
