Levi's America "Go Forth" Commercial Ad

The new Levi's America "Go Forth" commercial features the American poet Walt Whitman and lines from his 1888 poem "America". The audio is the original recording of Whitman's real voice used in the Levi's spot, the music is "The CN Tower Belongs To The Dead (Many Ives Version)" by Final Fantasy. Another great commercial for Levi's created by Wieden + Kennedy, Portland.

What an annoying commercial, race meddling trolls.

Not like anyone actually wears those ugly jeans anymore.

America is SUNK. Think of that opening imagery. No matter the credentials of the spoken word, this image evokes the end of America. To try to sell a pair of jeans - jeans themselves imagery of the US - SHAME. And yes, racism, etc. Shame, this was a great country - it is going to die in revolution.

Maureen, the sign isn't sunk, it's just wet and damaged. Obviously we are all free to perceive the symbolism as we please. But in my opinion the sign isn't supposed to seem fully doomed, nor on the fast track to restoration. It's a once-glorious sign that still flickers and sparks with the remnants of its historic luster. It's as inspiring as it is haunting. I couldn't have chosen a more descriptive metaphor for the state our country is in right now.

Holy smokes, what a bunch o' nuts!

(Why is it that I spend all of my time posting comments to the web, each of one of which begins, "What are any of you people taking about?")

What are any of you people talking about? Seriously! "Race meddling?" "Racism?" "Shame?"

It's a f****** commercial, that's fairly brilliant, if you ask me, but then again, no one is!!!

If someone could just clue me in, or post a handy reference guide for those of us playing at home, I'd be eternally thankful.

I do not like these recent Levi's commercials. Then again, I can't recall a Levi's commercial that I have liked. Not even since the 1980's.

I think the recent commercials are artsy, and there are some people who love art for art's sake regardless of what it is. I don't. Personally, I find the commercials to be a waste of that art. It annoys me because the art does nothing for the jeans.

I don't care if shirtless twenties run in the jeans. Levi's doesn't have the fashion name to sell the jeans anymore, nor the quality to sell the jeans. I think this endless series of artsy commercials is an annoying attempt to stay relevant.

The Energizer bunny goes on and on. Pointless, artsy Levi's commercials do too.

Frankly I agree with Chris.

The ads suck. They're annoying and made me stop buying the brand.

This ad reminds me of the old german propaganda films during the early days of WW2. Stalin tried the same thing back in the 50's...
Remember... America is sunk.
Ja wohl mein levi's

Yes, the ads suck! skinny punks running around with torches n pants fallin off, I guess anarchy, race trolling are part n parcel of a leftist stance of coolness...why not use Mao poetry instead of Whitman? Pants now made in China anyway....bottom line is I felt no inclination to go out n buy Levi at all, in fact, a negative impression is left where once a better feeling was....

I do not believe we are sunk....at least not yet. However the ad makes me think about the targets of this advertisement. The leftest vision of the american "utopia" depicted here is troubling. If this ad makes you fear the "one world nanny state", then vote carefully. Because most of our todays politicians are taking us there now.

If I was to make a satirical commercial, it would be very similar to this. Pointless "artistic" qualities that just look annoying.

If I was jeans shopping I would intentionally avoid levis now
