CareerBuilder.com jumped into the banned SuperBowl Ads game this year with these commercials that were rejected for the 2010 Super Bowl to air on TV during the game....ya right.
Actually these two spots were finalists in a contest similar to the Crash The SuperBowl Contest by Doritos, where ads were submitted and may the best spots win.
These are both really funny, however, I did notice when I was at the CareerBuilder.com website that only the fart lighting one was banned, the casual friday and the job fairy one (not seen here) but available on the CB wesite are still in compition to see which of those two will air during super bowl. I'm pulling for casual friday if the fart one won't air.
Why is it that when consumers create ads, they go to the lowest common denominator for humor? I get why Careerbuilder wants this kind of attention, but there are much more intelligent ways to be funny. "Light a fire under yourself" and "exposure yourself to better" are appropriate strategic thoughts, sure, but only consumers creating ads can get away with this low level of execution. Is this really where we've come to with creative ideas? And it is a complete non sequitur for casual Fridays to mean wearing your underwear to work, but in this case it's a leap that seems forced.
